Terms of Use

Short version: play as much as you like, write your own quizzes, share them with whoever you want. Do not put anything in them that you would not want read out loud to a room full of strangers, including children. That is the whole of it — the rest is detail.

1. What Tambello is

Tambello is a quiz you play together. One screen shows the questions, everyone else joins with a phone. It is free, it needs no account to play, and it is offered as it is — see section 7.

2. Your account

You need an account only to write and keep your own quizzes. It is tied to an email address you control. Do not share your sign-in codes; anyone holding one can reach your account. If you think somebody else has got in, write to us and we will end the sessions.

3. Quizzes you write yourself

Anything you write stays yours. By storing it here and sharing it through a link you give us the right to keep it on our servers, show it to the people you share it with, and display it on screens in the game — which is simply what has to happen for the feature to work at all. We claim nothing beyond that, and we will not put your questions into the built-in topics without asking you first.

You are responsible for what you write. Do not upload anything that:

• is unlawful, or encourages something unlawful;
• insults, threatens or degrades a person or a group — by origin, skin colour, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability or anything else of that kind;
• is sexual, violent or otherwise unsuitable for children, given that a game is played in the open and children are often in the room;
• exposes personal information about somebody who has not agreed to it, such as a classmate or a colleague;
• infringes somebody else's copyright — a question you wrote yourself is fine, a chapter copied out of a textbook is not;
• advertises, or exists mainly to push people towards something you sell.

4. Nicknames

Players choose their own nickname when they join. The same rules apply there, and a filter already turns away the most obvious cases. Whoever is hosting can remove any player from the room, for any reason, without explanation.

5. What we may do

If a quiz breaks the rules in section 3, we may hide it, delete it, or close the account behind it. Where it is reasonable we will say why first, but where content is clearly harmful we will act at once and explain afterwards.

We may also stop somebody using the service if they attack it — attempts to overload it, to reach data that is not theirs, or to break the sign-in.

These are rights, not promises: we do not read every quiz, and we cannot know about content nobody reports. If you find something that does not belong here, tell us at contact@tambello.com.

6. Fair use of the service

Play as much as you want. Do not use bots, do not script the sign-in, and do not download the question database wholesale. If you want the questions for something of your own, ask — the answer is often yes.

7. No warranty

Tambello is provided as it is and as it happens to be available. We do not promise that it will run without interruption, that every answer is correct, or that your quizzes will still be there tomorrow — though we will of course do our best on all three. Keep a copy of anything you would be sorry to lose.

Liability is limited to intent and gross negligence, as far as the law allows. Nothing here limits liability for injury to life, body or health, or any other liability that cannot be excluded.

8. Using Tambello in a school or a company

You are welcome to. Whoever runs the game is responsible for what happens in the room — which questions are shown, who is allowed to join, and what is done with the result. Tambello itself stores nothing about players; see section 3 of the Privacy Policy, which is usually the part a data protection officer wants to see.

9. Ending it

You can stop at any time. Ask us to delete your account and your quizzes go with it. We may close an account that breaks these terms repeatedly.

10. Changes

These terms can change — new features need new rules. The date at the top shows when they last did. If something material changes, it will be announced on the start page, and you keep the right to delete your account instead of accepting it.

11. Applicable law

The law of Switzerland applies, unless you are a consumer and the law of your own country gives you protection that cannot be contracted away — in that case, that protection stands.
